Requirement of Master of AACVPR:
What is a Master of AACVPR?
Appointment as an honorary fellow in a professional society is designed to honor exceptional achievement and service within the professional domain of the awarding body. AACVPR has instituted a new level of fellowship, “Master of AACVPR”, which is awarded to those long-term members of AACVPR who exemplify the highest standards of our profession.
Criteria:
- Active AACVPR Fellow for 10 years:
Since a Fellow must have been a member for at least three years to qualify for that distinction, nominees for Master will have been in the field for at least 13 years. Nominee must be an AACVPR member in good standing for all years.
- Active participant at a minimum of three AACVPR Annual Meetings within the last six years:
Annual Meeting speaker, posters or abstract presenter, meeting chair, or program planning committee member
- Author of a published book, chapter, or article pertinent to the field OR Editor, Associate, or Section Editor of JCRP
Articles must be published in a peer-reviewed journal or a published book
- Demonstrates a high level of commitment to the goals & long-range activities of AACVPR
Examples are participation in DOTH, committees or task forces, JCRP reviewer or editorial board, Webcast author/presenter
- Evidence of outstanding performance in cardiovascular and/or pulmonary rehabilitation over the last 10 years:
- Clinical practice
- Research or
- Professional education
- Other areas (e.g., health policy)
- Previous AACVPR Board member or committee chair
- Active at affiliate society with efforts to connect local/regional members to national level
Past or current affiliate Board member or committee chair, Speaker at affiliate Annual Meeting, etc.
- Recognized & respected as a mentor of students or professionals in the field
Must be able to identify names of 5 such relationships
- Receive nominations from a minimum of two active Fellows of AACVPR

Only current Fellows can nominate colleagues for Master of AACVPR. All letters of recommendation should be sent to fellowship@aacvpr.org.
All Fellows nominated will be contacted and requested to submit their professional curriculum vitaes.
All letters and CVs will be compiled and reviewed by the Volunteer Development Committee – Fellowship/Master sub-group with final approval by the Board of Directors. Newly selected Masters will be appointed at the 27th Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL.
Up to five Masters will be selected each year.
