What is a Master of AACVPR?

Appointment as an honorary Fellow in a professional society is designed to honor exceptional achievement and service within the professional domain of the awarding body. AACVPR has instituted a new level of fellowship, “Master of AACVPR”, which is awarded to those long-term members of AACVPR who exemplify the highest standards of our profession.

Only AACVPR Fellows are able to nominate their colleagues. Help us identify the next group of leading cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation experts.

Deadline to apply or nominate is April 25, 2015

  • Applicant must be nominated by a current AACVPR Fellow.
  • Receive a letter of support from a least (2) active Fellows of the Association (one of whom is the nominating fellow).
  • AACVPR staff will obtain nominee’s CV.
  • Be an AACVPR Fellow and member for, at least 10 consecutive years prior to the application (may be waived for individual under number 8 below).
  • Since Fellows must have been a member for 3 years, the applicant will have been in the field for at least 13 years.
  • Participation (via research, speaking, moderating, posters, abstracts, planning committee) at a minimum of 3 AACVPR Annual Meetings within the last 10 years.
  • Have served as a Committee Chair and/or Board member for AACVPR.
  • The Nominating & Awards Committee may select one individual each year (as part of the 5 total) who does not meet these qualifying criteria, but, based on their significant historical contributions to AACVPR and the field of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, are deemed deserving of MoA. This individual does not have to go through the application procedure.

The Nominating & Awards Committee considers the following information when considering Masters applicants:

  • The strength and enthusiasm of the candidate’s 2 Masters endorsers.
  • The significance, quality and role of service over time during which the candidate has been associated with the AACVPR.

The final decision for advancement to Master of AACVPR is a recommendation from the AACVPR Nominating & Awards Committee (based on the application), sent for final approval by the AACVPR Board of Directors.
